Window Cleaning

The heat from the sun can cause the cleaning fluid to dry, which will result in streaks or water spots.

2. Brush the exteriors of windows and frames lightly with a soft-bristled counter brush, dusting away cobwebs and loose dirt. Don't forget the hinges, sills, and tracks.

3. Mix a solution of 1 part  of Sunlight Lemon dish soap liquid

4. When using the squeegee indoors, place a towel along the windowsill to catch drips.

5. Using a sponge/soft bristle brush wet (but don't drench) the  and rub the dirt away. Keep the solution from touching the window frames.

6. Wet the squeegee; a dry blade will skip.

7. Starting at an upper corner of the pane, draw the squeegee down in a straight stroke. Return to the top and repeat, slightly overlapping the first stroke. After each stroke, wipe the rubber edge of the squeegee with a sponge or lint-free cloth. Finish by pulling the squeegee across the bottom of the window, and dry the sill with a sponge or cloth.

8. Wipe frames with a cloth dampened with a nonammoniated all-purpose cleaner and water. Rinse them thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth to remove cleaning solution and dry immediately by wiping with a clean, dry cloth.

Note for washing large windows: For huge picture windows, professionals favor a method called the snake. Starting in an upper corner, pull the squeegee horizontally across the window. At the opposite corner, turn, lower the squeegee to the water line, then pull it across the window. Work your way down and touch up the edges with a cloth.

Resources

Residential

1. We start by cleaning the exterior windows.

We clean the exterior windows using our pure water method as our primary way, or in some circumstances we use  a non-abrasive applicator and biodegradable soap, rubber squeegees and lint free towels. If the windows are excessively dirty we might manually scrub them to ensure a flawless shine.

2. Next, we clean the interior windows.

We carefully move any furniture out of the way, lay down drop cloths to catch any drips and clean the interior windows using the same methods as the exterior.

3. We clean your screens.

A perfectly clean window deserves a clean screen, so we remove and clean all screens. Dusty screens can transfer dust back onto the clean glass, so screen cleaning is a must.

4. We wipe down the frame.

We thoroughly wipe down the frame and window ledge to complete the cleaning.

5. We double check our work for perfection.

Before we pack up, we double check our work for any smears or streaks to ensure your windows are brilliantly clean. We always send two or more technicians so that they can double check each others work.

Part of site clean-up may include cleaning the actual home, office or structure the contractors built so that it is ready for the new occupants to move into. Clean-up workers wipe down ceiling fixtures, fans, lights, mechanical registers, walls, cabinets, windows, sills, mirrors, baseboards, counters, appliances and other fixtures. They also sweep and mop floors and outdoor sidewalks and patio spaces. The clean-up worker must take care to only use products suited for the type of material he is cleaning.
